Activision Blizzard with Microsoft and Sony with Bungie, what a business! 2022 promises to be a very important year for the Gaming industry and in January we heard the announcement of two interesting market operations that have redefined the boundaries of the video game sector.
The first – undoubtedly the heaviest and most influential – concerns the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft, a move for almost 70 billion dollars that represents a record not only for the gaming world but for the entire history of acquisitions.
The second business – this more modest both for impact and for the money capital involved – is the one that led Sony to formalize the acquisition of Bungie, which will become part of PlayStation Studios for the modest sum of 3.6 billion. dollars.
Legendary developer Bungie to join Sony PlayStation as independent, multi-platform studio and publisher
Bungie’s world-class expertise in multi-platform development and live game services will help us deliver on our vision of expanding PlayStation to hundreds of millions of gamers.
Bungie is a great innovator and has developed incredible proprietary tools that will help PlayStation Studios achieve new heights under Hermen Hulst’s leadership.
After the deal closes, Bungie will be “an independent subsidiary” of SIE run by a board of directors consisting of current CEO and chairman Pete Parsons and the rest of the studio’s current management team.
“We’ve had a strong partnership with Bungie since the inception of the Destiny franchise, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to officially welcome the studio to the PlayStation family,” said SIE president and CEO Jim Ryan.

Halo is one of the games that contributed to the popularity of Microsoft’s Xbox. And PALO is coming
We all know how much the Halo franchise has contributed to decreeing the success of the Xbox videogame platform and – precisely for this reason – there are already rumors of a possible alternative saga that will become exclusive to the PlayStation world.
Codenamed PALO, from the union of PlayStation and Halo, the new first-person shooter should be a large open-world, with an incredible story to tell and an entire sci-fi universe to discover.
It seems that the project is already under development and that it includes both PvE and PvP activities, in short, a Destiny with a sprinkle of Halo and maybe even some elements of No Man’s Sky.
For the moment they are only rumors, perhaps not entirely founded, but the idea teases us a lot and we hope that it can come true to delight players from all over the world with a new videogame masterpiece.
We just have to wait to see what the Bungie wizards will achieve!
